SH*FT Happens

Let’s face it, SH*FT happened earlier this year that hardly any of us expected. With that said, it is a great time to start thinking about the second half of 2020. The first half was nothing like we have ever experienced and hope the second half is not like the first. In fact, I recently read an article in Success magazine from Kindra Hall and her quote sums it up perfectly:

“In a matter of days the pandemic stripped every plan, every choice, down to bare bone.”

Bare bone…think about that for a minute. The goals you set coming into 2020 have probably changed. As a business owner, you have learned things about you and your business. If you haven’t started, now is a great time to start looking at the second half of the year.

As football coaches enter the locker room during half time of a game, they have lessons learned from the first half that they discuss with their team. Evaluating your first half performance against your goals is what you should be doing as a business owner. Be honest with yourself about where you are versus where you wanted to be.

A few questions to ask yourself and your team:

  • What have you learned?

  • Are you ready for a 2nd wave of the pandemic?

  • How will you adapt the business?

  • Do you need to adjust your goals?

The goals set at the start of 2020 and results you expected are possibly very different as a result of the pandemic. If not, that’s great! The challenge for many us is that we do need to revise our goals for the 2nd half. We need to shift our goals and adapt them to the current situation. I would not wait for July 1 to think about your goals; do it now!
